Any bike that fits you and has proper brakes is fine for riding down a hill. Gearing doesn’t even matter. Heck, you could just get a skateboard or inlines if you don’t intend to ride climbing.
There are two grades of Schwinn bicycles sold now, with the most common being the cheap stuff sold through walmart & target. They’re of low quality, but more importantly they’re typically assembled by employees that aren’t that keen on bicycle gathering.
For a decent bike, go to a bike shop. Most decent geared bikes start at $500 now. Yes, that’s 3X what you’ll pay at wallyworld, but there’s a reason for it.

Unless you are going to ride up mountain trails, a hybrid road bike would be a better choice. It will be much lighter, have road gearing, and wide smooth road tires. It will provide you with quick, smooth, comfortable ride on roads, streets, paths, and bike trails made of concrete, pave, dirt, grass and gravel.

A mountain bike used on the streets is a waste. A excellent hybrid or road bike would be much better. Question about the gear ratios on bikes you look at. Many are designed for hills. Just place it the lowest gear possible & go!
Schwinn from a real bike shop is OK. Schwinn from a discount store or Amazon.com is junk. Other brands that are excellent all come from real bicycle shops. Giant, Raleigh, Trek, Specialized, etc.
